Amon Carter Day to Night

After seeing an article in the monthly issue of National Geographic of a photographer named Stephen Wilkes and several complete pages of his work I was blown away by the sheer size of the images and the time and work that went into each one. Inspired by his idea that is the only one it's kind, therefore making my image one of very few attempts to replicate his work, I set out to make a "Day to Night" image for myself. Each of his showcase a national or global landmark and being from and living in Fort Worth I wanted to find as many Fort Worth originals I could find to fit in one photo. Starting on the left side is around 12pm and then towards the center it turns to dusk around 6pm and then far to the right it's around 9pm. Although I only used 9 hours I sat in the same spot and took nearly 1,000 photos over a 13 hour time period and then sifted through each and everyoe looking for something that stood out. For example, each person on the left side is a seperate image from a wide range of time during the day. The next step after finding the images I wanted to use, which ended up being around 50, was to stack, layer and blend each together in Photoshop to show the progression of time throughout the day.
